Greetings!
Just before Christmas 2004 I
was faced with a dilemma. I had owned 4 brick and mortar
businesses over the previous 18 years, and had success in
those endeavors. Owning your own business is central to
building the American Dream of prosperity. The reality is that
small businesses and corporate positions are what? They are
24/7, 365 day per year propositions. They are all the time
stress, debt and high risk ventures. Every company I had
started required a large capital investment (at
least $200,000 for each venture). All expenses such as
Payroll, Taxes, Rent, Debt Service, Insurance, etc., got
paid first, before me. That's right, owning a traditional
business means you throw a bunch of money in the air and what
lands in your pocket is what is left after everything else is
paid. And who was always working the hardest? Me! At the end
of the day, I was always just a little bad luck or a negligent
employee away from losing it all.
So in December 2004, something
was gnawing at me. There I was getting ready to do it again,
start ANOTHER Information Technology Services Company. A few
weeks before deciding to start a Home Based Business, I went
to the bank to start the process of borrowing $250,000 to
start what I thought would be another killer niche business.
Would $250K be enough? Did I need $500K? I got back from that
meeting wondering if doing the same thing I had done for 18
years was the right answer .
Times were different too. I
was now a single parent, with 2 teenage daughters living
with me. I had endured 6 spine surgeries from an accident I
sustained in the field in 1998, and the thought of getting
back on airplanes in pursuit of a decent income was bothering
me. It became very apparent to me that I was getting ready to
do the same thing, but having done it several times
before, I knew the result would be the same; a 6 figure income
for 100 hour per week commitment. It was time to explore my

One of my big rubs with EP
